A SLIGHT SHIFT

I am having difficult with my setup to see the computer screen well enough to draw my image.  I am very nearsighted and have blended lenses but they don't seem to do a good job in this vision range.  I guess it's time to get another eye exam !  I decided to draw from one of the photos I took with the Photo Booth program.  It was slightly distorted in a fun way.  I used the Japanese Brush Pen and tried for a blind contour drawing...but I kept peeking!  Turned out very gestural.  Tomorrow I will set up a mirror system and work from that .

  1. Myrna, I can't function with my "computer glasses" They are a separate pair.I measure the distance from my eyes to the computer screen. Turns out it is usually the perfect distance for most of my art work too.You might even be able to have them placed in an old eyeglass frame you have around. Mine are in the process of being renewed with a new prescription and I sorely miss them. Bifocals and reading glasses don't work nearly as well.

  2. Hi Liz, Thanks for the suggestion. I now have a monitor hooked up to the laptop which is large enough and close enough for me to see without glasses but I have to work off of the laptop to access the camera in it for the Photo Booth program. That puts me too far away to see. Will consider another special pair of glasses. I have plenty of old frames.

  3. Myrna, I found your blog through Mary Paquet's blog. Your "Why So Down?" self-portrait caought my eye. I really laughed at the story of the computer crash and subsequent egg crash.
Your self- portraits are wonderful and you are a funny lady.
